OK reversing a hot with a neutral would make the red and middle yellow lights come on. Is this what the op encountered? Pete
I suspect that the tester lights would be brighter on 240V but that could be hard to detect. It's also possible that the lights would burn out which would be the best scenario as no lights indicate something is wrong - don't plug in the RV.
