I find being on solar means you can ignore a lot of "efficiency" concerns. Once the batts are up to Vabs and amps start to taper, you have extra solar you can use to run loads besides charging batteries. You a awash in amps for the rest of the day!
So you can get away with being careless like leaving a light on or leaving the inverter on stand by when it is not running anything. So who cares if the controller or inverter is less efficient. You sure won't notice, so IMO don't pay any extra for it.
Solar is very much feast or famine for how much sunshine you get day to day. If it is feast, efficiency doesn't matter; if it is famine, efficiency won't help you get more sunshine.
