Wiring losses will be less with 24V batteries but then you have the cost and loss associated with a 24/12 DC/DC converter. I chose to stay with 12V for a variety of reasons.
Including the pigtails I have 61' of 10ga wire for the panels with a 0.6% wiring loss. The MPPT 60 is connected to the existing inverter wires with a 1.3% wiring loss. Total is 1.9% wiring loss which is low.
