I Guess I Gotta Do This Slowly
POINT ONE.
I am not talking about weathering a Force 10 gale. I am talking about yes or no would a failure of the bucker cause massive inconvenience to a cruiser and an RV'er alike? It is of more importance to a cruiser because they must have a much longer period of autonomy. And when they pull into Samoa, it is more inconvenient to try and get a UPS or DHL package than it would be where I am at the moment where it would only take a thousand mile round trip fifty percent surcharge for taxes and a hundred twenty dollar shipping fee AND TEN DAY TRANSIT.
WHERE YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU INTEND TO GO has to be factored in. An RV trip to Westminster Connecticut is a hell of a lot different than a trip to Yellowstone or West Texas.
Start the engine and what? The twelve volts is supposed to impress a 24 volt battery bank? Start the generator, the 12 volt converter is supposed to impress the 24 volt battery bank? If ten days of inclement weather is a total "Never Happen" for where you are and where you intend to RV then that really biases the decision.
When I recommend reviewing a product or seeing what everyone is using in a sailboat cruising forum, this can transmogrify into a critique of a certain brand of bucker? Ooooooo that is strange linkage and logic, indeed.
Uninformed decisions means unplanned and un-researched decisions. I am neither for or against a system that utterly depends on good weather and a gizmo that can make or break a trip. I am for self-education and basing a decision solely upon informed logic.
And this can be criticized?
