time2roll had to replace his four 6s and chose LFP. He is young enough to realize their long life advantage, and he cleverly put his LFP bank (DIY type) in a portable box in his older RV so he can use his LFPs in his next RV.
The LFPs suit his camping scenarios, so he made a good move. Others on here that chose LFP might include some that will not get their money's worth and some that will--time will tell.
The RV battery world is in motion. SiO2 did not catch on, and now they are promoting AGMs that have been doped with lead carbon to make them last longer (for more money of course). LFPs are still being developed so how long will it be after you buy one today before way better ones come out, or something else we haven't heard of yet?
K could choose to wait it out with new wet 6s now and get the latest thing next time, since he is young enough. He has an older RV and can't really make a portable LFP bank like time2roll's. Money aspect to that.
Interesting times for RVers, even more than last time in the late 90s when switch-mode came out and solar got way better.
(BTW I tried regular AGMs which cost way more too, and they didn't last very long. I was expecting better from doing all the right fussy things they demand, so I went back to wet 6s and will stick with them which suits my own scenario. Others may have better luck with their AGMs. YMMV)
