I have a Progressive Industries hardwired unit and I highly recommend that company. All their products have very good specifications. The cost of their products is a little more, but worth the difference.
The SSP-30 is the basic portable surge protector. But if you want better protection, go with the EMS-PT30C - that adds power protection (high or low voltage cut-off to protect equipment). There are many versions - hardwired, remote displays, etc. Poke around the Progressive Industries site for a good explanation of each model.
By the way I must tell you, I had TERRIBLE customer service from Surge Guard after the failure of a new unit.
