the outlet construction may be a bit different as well. 15 often has a hole in the back you can poke a 14GA wire into. a 12 should not fit
20 amps only have SCREWS you bend a wire around and clamp it down
I never poke the hole. I always use the screw.

The NEUTRAL slot is "T" shaped on the 15/20 since the 20 amp Neutral is rotated 90 Degrees.
