I have the champion 3500/4000 and at 5000 feet it will run the AC as long as you start the fan first the start the compressor about a min later. But even then it puts a real load on and you can tell it's working hard. Not all AC units have a delayed compressor start but you can add one or do it yourself manually with the controls.
