Air conditioning removes moisture via condensation on the evaporator, that's why it can freeze up when it is hot and muggy. With dry air it only has to cool the air to do the job.
Generally the humidity here is low, sometimes below 10% and swamp coolers work well. They also go thru a fair amount of water which is in limited supply when we are dry camping. As it is we make 60 gallons last up to two weeks now.
I did see a bucket swamp cooler that could provide a cool breeze but not cool the trailer.
