You may have a 30% loss at 8000-10,000 (roughly 3% per thousand). But it is a rare day you need air conditioning at 9 or 10,000 ft. and generally not critical need at 8,000 ft.
I have a 3000 watt Yamaha 3000 inverter (2800 continuous) and it ran the air conditioner anywhere I needed it. It certainly did fine in the 3,000-6,000 elevations most likely to need A/C in summer.
Force your refrigerator into gas mode and postpone house battery charging if you think your generator needs its all for the air conditoner.
