30A to 50A Dogbone and Surge Protection

I searched but didn't find an answer to this. If I'm camping someplace and there's only 30A power available, I will need to use my 30A to 50A adapter to connect. So if I then connect a 50A surge protector (still shopping for one) to the adapter and then plug my camper power cable to that, will I get proper surge protection for the stuff in my camper or will the surge protector show low power and not work properly or maybe not at all?
