Just sold my 30Amp trailer and buying a new 50Amp trailer that has 2 AC's. When visiting my Father he has a 30A plug. Can I still plug in my old 30A surge/voltage protector, use a 30 to 50 adaptor, and still have power but use only one AC?

Yes, you can do that. Remember if water heater has 120 volt element to turn it off.

I’d run my fridge on gas too.

Why would you have to turn off a 120VAC water heater ?

IF your 50A to 30A adapter connects both legs to one (is this common, or do 50A/30A adapter just leave one leg unenergized ?), running both A/Cs will likely trip the house breaker. Also, running the water heater and either A/C might trip the house breaker.

Yes
As always if you trip the breaker, reduce the load and try again.

It would not trip the rig's breaker, but the breaker you are plugged into whether it be a pedestal or wherever the circuit is fed from.

If you're lucky it will trip a breaker. If not, it will just burn up your plug.

As long as you don't turn on both ACs, you should see no difference between your old 30 amp rig and your new 50 amp rig.

Yes - I do this all the time at my home. I run one AC and turn on the fridge - on electric.

And this has actually happened because someone turned on the second AC without me knowing - no plugs were burned...

If I recall, on my PC when plugged into 30amp the second a/c is not receiving current thu the panel, so it can’t be turned on.
