It is a joke - a chuckle...
In the USA the kids hammered on my door because I gave away full-size Snickers and Mounds.
But I much prefer the Mexican custom of visiting gravesites and honoring and celebrating the lives of los difuntos. The observances are a mixture of sadness with celebration 1 Nov in observance for deceased children (agewise) 2 Nov for adults. The kids romp and chomp candy skeletons, play the game Oca while adults sip Tequila or brandy and remenisce. Touching family togethernes with beautiful flower and candle memorials. The kids have no complaints. One LEGAL transplanted girl age 11 remarked of halloween "This is an insult to my grandma and my grandpa".
