Either on the back of the panel or listed with the info on the site is listed you will find the VOC. You need to know it before matching up a controller as they have VOC limits. I've seen VOCs of over 200v, my controller is limited to 42v.
Just because a panel is rated for a certain SOC doesn't mean it can't exceed it. My 230w panel is rated for 8.33a and at close to 10,000 ft can put out 13-14a.(16a MPPT) It is on a set of 25 ft 10 gauge cords left portable so that I can track the sun if needed.
