The Y cable thingies are a bad idea, and won't work at all if you have a GFCI involved. (The problem is the neutral line, which is connected to both plugs. If the two outlets are on the same phase, one or the other neutral line could be significantly overloaded. In the worst case, with e.g. a fault in the 30A neutral, you could have 50A going through the 20A neutral line without popping any breakers.)
Otherwise, any set of adapters will function fine theoretically speaking. Better constructed ones will be safer ones, and that usually means the dogbone style.
