50 Amp question

Absolutely!

Just remember that you can't use more than 30 amps at one time and you are good to go.

I've been doing the exact same thing for years. Not a problem.

You can use 30 amps, even if you had 2 ACs.

We also have a 50 amp trailer but often stay at parks with only 30 amp service. No problem at all on just one AC.

7 yrs. of FT travel and used MANY 30A services.

Fact is....current home has 30A power pedestal that 5vr is plugged into.

The 50A to 30A adapter will supply 120VAC to both 50AMP legs of your trailer distribution legs. Just keep in mind you can only draw 30AMP or less otherwise you will trip your house breaker.

i.e. you can run either one of your two air conditioners if you desire but only one at a time.

Thanks for all the responses. Right now the trailer only has one AC unit but it s ready for a second. I think the 15.0 one will be enough for our needs....always has been but if we need another, I will add a smaller one to the bedroom.

First: If that 30 amp outlet is "Newly installed" make sure it is 120 volt first (Between the two flat slots). If you used it with your old trailer.. Then it's ok.

Now; The answer to your question: YES.

In fact at home it's a good thing cause you will quickly learn the limits of 30 amps. Basically the rule is this: From the following list pick 2

Air conditioner (only one of these if you have two)
Microwave
Water heater
Dead batteries
Space heater. (You may need to install a heavy duty outlet for a space heater, I did).

Presence or absence of Fridge on AC may make a difference.
Televisions and radios do not count

I ran a test with two freshly cleaned Carrier Air V 13,500 btu (13.5 amp per the label) Air Conditioners and they drew exactly 27 amps.. Strange, that is 13.5 times 2.. I now have one of them plus an Advent 15,000 BTU draws the exact same power.. Fresh cleaned.. All clogged up with debris and cotton-wood tree seeds.. It draws MORE.

A 15K AC will draw up to 17 amps.
