Renee what generator do you have? We have had the surge protector since 2001 and a 2000 Honda inverter gen would shut off because the surge protector would not allow that low of power to enter the fifth.

The surge protector detects an open ground with the Honda eu2000, but DH made a "cheater" box similar to one in this thread and the open ground no longer occurs - open ground correction
