50 amp surge protector

Hi all!
This is MichBill. I have questions for our electronics wizards.
I bought a Sure Guard 50 Amp surge protector via Camping World a few years ago. It cost about $350. I went to use it this year and it will not work. According to Sure Guard, it must have done its job and protected my coach. I now have a $350 paper weight. Sure Guard is willing to sell me another one, but before I invest another $350, I wanted to get additional information. Which brings me to my questions, is there a way to repurpose /rebuild this one? Is there something out there that does the same thing but is reusable, like a circuit breaker?
Thank you
Bill
  • Forget Surge Guard, that is typical of them and the reason I now buy Progressive Industries (life time warranty) and will never buy a surge Guard product. :)
  • I went through 2 Surge Guard,s before I hit smart and purchased a Progressive SG.
So as others have said. Junk it.
In the long run. It cost me more $$ than if I had went with a Progressive the first time.

    Yep. me too

We are in process of upgrading our whole 50 amp system to a pure syne wave Magnum inverter and protected it with a Progressive surge protecter hard wired into the electronic bay.
  • Please do not toss it in the trash
Happy to pay shipping costs to get it here
They are repairable contrary to what most folks believe
  • Progressive! Best there is IMHO! tfanelli@progressiveindustries.net This guy is the president of the company and will respond to your questions and make recommendations on what you need. Guaranteed for life and will rebuild or resupply if it is damaged.
I have a portable 50 AMP because I might need to change coaches from time to time. It has saved me twice from low voltage. When the voltage came back up, the unit allowed current to once again flow.
Mr Fanelli will give you details about warranties etc
