It won't melt a GOOD adapter even while running the AC. But the Cheap Walmart $1.00 adapter. Will be toast

As long as the cord is tight in the adapter and the adapter is tight in receptacle or extension cord, they should be able to handle refer and converter.

You can do it in a single adapter, but I prefer to do it with 2 dog bones - 50/30 and 30/15. I have run into places without 50 amp service, and the 50/30 gets a workout. Spring / fall camping when not needing the AC I can use the 30 amp hookup, and usually save a few bucks for the exact same spot VS the 50.
15 amps is 1800 watts, 30 amps is 3600 watts, 50 amp (220) is 12,000 watts.

NOTE: (follows) I see people have shown you a Puck type adapter. (I actually have one of those and use it from time to time) this works well if you are plugging into an extension cord,, If you are connecting directly to a standard Wall Outlet (15 or 15/20 amp) Then a DOGBONE style (Where the plug and outlet have a short cord between them (With a right angle plug (the proper right angle) works better.

Now the NOTE: You said 50 amp to 110 volt, Should. be 50 amp to 15 amp, if you google search on 50 amp to 15 amp RV adapter you will be much happier.

This is important because it makes a difference when Googling (or otherwise searching the net) That is why I point it out.. Or you may also wish to reverse the numbers, Some makers put "RV to Outlet" some do "Outlet to RV"

12-3. Yes. IMO, the hockey puck style also produce more heat,in one area, than dog bones. I suggest dog bone style.

Seriously? You are carrying a max of 15 or possibly 20 amps or the supply side breaker will open. How heavy do you believe this has to be? You are using an adapter rated for at least 30 amps and using half.

Yep they melt. The inline adapters you get at WalMart, are just cheap. That and the use of a drop cord will / can melt the adapter. Ask me how I know.....Been there done that.

yeah seriously.... Those cheap ones melt all the time. It would be nice if they comfortably carry the load of the breaker but sometimes that doesn't happen.
