50 amp to 15 amp

We'll be picking up our new Fleetwood Bounder Classic (50 amp) in a couple of weeks and I need to be able to hook up to 15 amp receptacle to provide basic electricity at home. My old coach had a twist lock for attaching the 50 amp cord to the coach and I had a 50 amp female twist lock to 15 amp male pigtail but I can't find a plug in type 50 amp to 15 amp adapter. Can I combine a 50 to 30 amp and then a 30 to 15 amp adapters together? Or am I just not finding a 50 to 15 amp adapter?

Thanks!

  • You are going to need a 50 to 30 anyway so you might as well have a 50 to 30 and a 30 to 15/20 so you can cover all your bases.
Just be aware that 50 amp RV's are looking for lots of power (100 amp total available) so be sure you have everything you can find turned off before you plug into a 15/20 amp circuit.
  • Thanks guys for the quick replies. I assumed that was my only option, I just wanted it confirmed. I'll only use the adapters for lights while piddling in my new toy.
  • You will be much happier running a 50 or 30 amp circuit to your new mh.. Just a thought.
  • I have done exactly what you ask, so the answer is"yes". Just do not turn much in the coach on or you will be blowing circuit breakers.
