I have read and reread this thread. No-one has determined what the issue is. Your statement that the red and white wires are crossed does not mean anything without other information. COULD the wire colors be the issue. RED usually indicates a HOT and WHITE a NEUTRAL. But is your source of power (main panel wired to this receptacle) RED-HOT and WHITE-NEUTRAL or WHITE-HOT and RED NEUTRAL. Without the voltage information for the L1, L2, N, Gnd pins at the recepacle as wired, NO correct/proper/safe answer can be given.
