50 AMP
A friend of mine has a an outlet and also the plug for a 50 AMP, the Red and White wires are mis-crossed. What will that do to his RV if he hooks it up? ...Thank you! Moved to Tech Issues forun fro...

I agree, but quite frankly it not only amazes me but is beyond comprehension why some folks like several in this thread would post not only erroneous information but information that can be outright life threatening. I understand folks want to help, but for heaven's sake don't post on topics where life and limb are potentially at risk unless you are 100% sure and I suggest folks put a caveat on their posts to clearly state what they are saying is just their opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I have been on this forum for several years and having done marine electrical installations as well as trouble shooting for the last 15 years, I'm amazed at some of the posts that show up on the electrical threads, particularly the 50A threads. Some of the so-called advice and information written on these threads have varied all the way from humorous to potentially lethal, and in spite of that, there are still posts by people claiming to be in the know and telling what they think will happen under certain conditions, and it's obvious they have never picked up a VOM. They just have too much time on their hands and want to post something without thinking of the consequences of an unknowing RV owner reading it.
If you think these are interesting, read some of the air conditioner threads. I've given up on trying to help people solve problems on those, I just read them, shake my head, and go to the next new post. At least no one has ever died from freon that I'm aware of unless maybe it was some kid huffing it trying to get high.
