I am not going to get in the debate on how the pedestal is wired, but I have been in one Thousand Trails RV Park with the one pedestal serving two RV sites. The pedestal is wired with one 50amp and one 30amp receptacle. The first RV gets to chose 30 or 50 amps. I have had it both ways and have found no compromise on the 30amp connection. If I am the second to arrive and stay longer than the first RV, I do change to the 50amp.
Similarly, I had on one occasion my 30A pedistal breaker with an intermittent open ground, tripping my EMS. So.... I asked the guy next to me if I could use his 30A outlet, he was using the 50A. both plugged in, neither of us had a problem and it was HOT out so he was running two AC units, I was running one AC. Neither of us had any issue even though at times I was close to 30A with the microwave on, and with Two AC's and microwave he wasn't being easy on the 50A service. In any event in total we were drawing likely over 50A from one leg without a problem.
