As stated, I think I ran out of headroom when the battery voltage would not go above 30.3v on that occasion.
I would like to hear from Ken White, 12genusa, and others on whether that 31v was Vmp, which I believe it was. Otherwise why wasn't that 31, 35 like it jumped to when it went into Float?
Panel voltage with "no buck converter PWM" is battery voltage plus line loss.
Panel voltage with "buck converter MPPT in PWM mode" is whatever works to get amps to meet the amps demand at the output. ISTR Ken explained that the controller would choose a voltage higher on the IV curve farther down the knee when demand was low, which explains the jump to 35. (with the same watts, you need more V to get less I )
