600w is a funny size. I used to say that 1000w was a useless size too, but have since found that it will run the toaster and kettle ok at 900+w but just. It will also run a Danby 700w microwave but with the overload light on at 1050w.
So 600 is bigger than needed to run the entertainment system etc, but too small to run a toaster or kettle.
So IMO, get a 1000w to run more stuff as well for hardly any more money or wire size etc, or else go smaller like a 300 or even a 150 to run just the entertainment stuff and a laptop or whatever.
