This summer starting in June, a guy in our campground had a new to them trailer with two 6v batts. One of the 6v had two cells in the red and another cell in the green by hydrometer, while the other had three cells just into the green. He also had a 3000w MSW inverter that he got on sale, and was asking me what to do :)
I sold him my 130w panel and an RJ Special controller while I was acting as his advisor. :)
OK, so there he was with his beat up pair of 6s running a 3000w inverter off them to run is MW, the vacuum cleaner his DW kept turning on every 5 minutes (she is a cleaner freak type) and whatever.
I told him he would need four new batts soon, but meanwhile just keep going till September and see how it goes. Maybe he won't have to do anything until next April start of next season.
Well, he did that all summer, no problem! He finished up the season in September with his two beat-up 6s (U-2200s) still going, she was still using the vacuum cleaner and MW as desired, and the 130w panel kept cranking. It all worked!
So you can get away with a lot "depending," but you have to be able to adjust "up" quickly if you get behind and you are off grid and DW is wanting to know why the vacuum cleaner doesn't work anymore. :)
