Batteries (7 yo) seem to have more energy than ever now with solar. Tried my best to knock them down last week in Sequoia. Only had sun until about noon before the tall pines cast a shadow. DW used hair drier nearly every day, microwave used to heat full meals for two families a couple days, fan and lights (led) used at any whim, furnace cycled on every night. Battery was always high enough at sunrise so the controller never even extended the absorption time. Even with major shade it held float until sunset.
One of the main reasons was to get DW off the grid a bit and it seems to be working.
