It is exactly the way it works, if they are 12V batteries and the goal is a 12V total bank. 100x2=200 AH.
But, since the OP asked about 2*6V @(made up number)100 AH wired in such a way as to make it 12V bank, it would 2*100 AH = 100 AH total capacity.
You either add volts (in series wiring), or amps and AH (in parallel). I guess, he is already confused enough, let's not mud the waters more yet :)
Absolutely correct math.
But, the vast majority of 6 VDC golf cart batteries are in the 220 amp-hr range. So a pair wired in series is 220 amp-hrs @ 12 VDC.
