i own a Red and i've been recommending this generator since it first came out. if i was in the market for a new one, this would be the one i would buy.
though not as quiet as a Red or Blue, it's close enough to give both brands a run for the money, especially at that price point.
IMO, the Champion 3100 at $741.99 offers one of the best inverter generator values out there. The Champion 3100 has been widely available for about a year now. I think most would agree it has already established an excellent reputation for value and reliability, not to mention the capability to power most, if not all, 13,500 & 15,000 BTU a/c units.
Yup, some pick on it because it's not as quiet as the Hondas. But, in reality it is. The Champion 3100 competes spec for spec with the $2300 Honda 3000 watt "Handi". Output, weight, fuel consumption, look/style, and sound-level specs are nearly identical. You can buy THREE Champions for the price of one Honda Handi! I suppose you could fault Champion for competing with one of Honda's less popular inverter generators, but that's about it.
And, for the record, I own two Honda EU2000i's.
