8 / 40 volts to 12 volts

Hi All,

These might be of interest to folks with solar and motorized RV's to keep the starter battery topped up.

They come in sizes from input of 8 / 40 to output of12 volts 3 amps and up to 48 volts input to output of 12 volts 20 amps. All are less than 100 bucks.

Trik-L-Start would work--but they do NOT ship to Canada. (and are a heck of a lot more money).

I think I'll get one for keeping my generator battery charged in storage.
  • The specs. for that device calls for an output of 12V DC +/- 2%. That's probably not a good battery charge voltage? darn!
Maybe something like this would work.
Dork has alsorts of DC to DC devices on Amazon.

  • Caution - I have a few of these devices and am NOT impressed (20amp, 6amp and a 3amp). The 20amp one has huge AC spikes on the 12.35Vdc output. Output regulation is OK at best with the boost / buck conversion. They will not operate an IP camera with their excessive AC spikes which are at 500mmsec intervals. Used a 20volt Dewalt tool battery and gave up.
  • I had a couple of these in the 48V to 12V version, and they're junk. Using Victron Orions now.
  • If you want a 12V battery CHARGER from a higher DC voltage source, spend the money and buy something to do the job !
  • theoldwizard1,

I want something that will power the remote start on the generator without killing the battery.
