A little help with a Suburban Furnace

I have a 1985 Hi Lo with a Suburban Furnace in it. I know my thermostat is bad and I just want to make sure I buy a compatible replacement. I only have the heater no ac and I'm not trying to do anything fancy so I found this thermostat here which says it works for most 24 volt heating systems. The case on my furnace itself says it's a 12 volt and my rig's owner's manual also says it's a 12 volt system.

Any suggestions or advice? I can't seem to find a tstat for a 12 volt that isn't for cooling only or really expensive.

  • That stat will work but you might be happier with a digital battery powered stat. They do a much better job of maintaining even temperature without the wide swings of the mechanical stat. You can get one at any hardware or home improvement store.

Do a search on the forum for detailed installation assistance.
  • Thank you. I did read that bit in the description but since it specifically said 24 volt and I'm not entirely sure what millivolts are I wanted a second opinion. Thanks much!

The 24v is the maximum rating for the thermostat. If you read the product description in your link it states, " Compatible with most 24-volt and millivolt heating & cooling systems.".
