A simple solar question

I am switching my solar system from the old trailer to the new one. When I unhooked from the batteries on the old trailer I didn't pay attention to how the system was hooked up to the batteries. I am thinking it was hooked up through the charge controller, would this be right? There doesn't seem to be enough cable left to run to the batteries.
  • Best for the controller to be close to the battery. However connecting to the converter/12 volt distribution is fine. If you have a battery cut-off switch you probably need to keep it on in storage.
  • No, the controller and converter have to be separate chargers on the batteries, but you can use the existing converter to battery path as long as you join in at the converter's DC OUTPUT so they are in parallel. Also never let the converter charge through the controller.
  • MY error on the post. It is from the solar charge controller, can I tie into the converter for a link to the batteries.
