I've heard physicists compare this situation to painting a window black. The first coat doesn't do a good job, coat number two is better, but coat number 10 is a waste of time and paint. CO2 absorption is like that it increases to a maximum and then no matter how much you add beyond that point, you don't get more absorption. The bands are saturated.
