ABS sensor light

Since the recall on the brakes of our 2004 MountainAire gas 8.1 workhorse, we have a problem with the ABS light coming on. It started the same day they did the recall. We called on the way home and they said it would go out after we stopped, then started back up again. It did, but for some reason it keeps coming on now. Any suggestions?

  • After what may have been a similar problem, a fireman friend who enjoys taking it apart and fixing it, took out the sensor, rubbed it clean, re-inserted it, and solved my problem. Replacing the sensor is also plug and play to someone who is not hesitant to crawl under the rig and knows what to look for.
    Good Luck
  • Unfortunately, taking it back is not really an option right now. The nearest workhorse dealer is over 2 hrs away :-(.

Take it back and to the place where you had it worked on and have THEM MAKE IT RIGHT. That shop may have damaged a sensor and or wiring and THEY the shop are the ones that caused the ABS light so THEY should be the ones footing the bill for all the repairs to fix the ABS CORRECTLY.
  • I had that light come on with a Pontiac Sunbird years ago, and it was grease on the sensor. It couldn't properly detect wheel motion.
