AC (alt current) Waveforms and THD for gens and inverter

Have you ever been curious what your generator or inverter waveform looks like? I have and the question has been asked on this forum several times. I have a new to me, recently calibrated Fluke 41B ...

Based on my Microquiet's waveform, I'm not surprised at all. The 5500's waveform, by comparison, is pretty nice. Could you try it with a reactive load? With a resistive load, the Microquiet kinda-sorta looks like a sine wave. With loads like the microwave or air conditioner going, it deteriorates significantly. The worst case distortion is with a non-pf-corrected converter under heavy load, when it's hardly recognizable as a sine wave.
