A/C Checking

Is there a way to check the voltage at the compressor to tell if it's working right. It's a 2015 with 15k ducted. I am in Houston TX but it seems to not keep up during the day. Where do I start first? Thanks Michael

  • If its a Coleman the divider board in the center is not sealed and the cold air bleeds int to intake stays on defrost longer
  • It's plugged in at my work, I will see what the read out is on my progressive in the morning and at closing. I do have a volt meter and clamp on ac meter. Thanks

You do not check the voltage, you check the AMPERAGE. Yes, you use a Clamp on AC Amp meter and see what the compressor is pulling in amps. If your unit is over 25 feet long, in Houston, a 15k will NOT be able to keep up. You need 2 AC units if over 25 feet in length. Doug
  • One (15K) A/C Unit and not keeping up during day in TX.........surprise.

What is AC Voltage to your RV in the morning and then how much lower is it during the afternoon?

    Got a muti-meter?

Check voltage at an outlet with it.

Get a plug in voltmeter and stick it in a convenient to see outlet....then you can watch how the AC Source Voltage fluctuates during day/night
