The RUN capacitor stays or it won't start. I looked at a few soft start install schematics and all unwired the start cap /pt cr.

Single phase semi-hermetic,Rotary, or scroll compressor will not start without a RUN capacitor but it will run after achieveing about 70% operating RPM without it. A Start Capacitor is a booster and only stays in the circuit briefly or it will be damaged. Most all RV AC's use a capillary tube metering device and should never need any hard start capacitor type accessories if getting proper voltage/current
OP probably unhooked the incorrect lead from RUN capacitor
