A/C Duct Work Problem

I recently had the Penquin 13500 BTU unit replaced with a 15k unit in my 2000 HR Imperial MH. My BH thinks that the 13.5 unit cooled better than the 15K unit. Thought maybe I had a problem in the duct work do I did a visual inspection, no problem with the duct work. However, I noticed the bottom of the plenum of the rear A/C was flush with the top of the duct work, where the plenum of the front A/C was within an inch of the bottom of the duct work. Just need some quick advice to solve this problem and keep the BH HAPPY.

  • Hey Altern, did you read the thread? I doubt it with the sarcastic remarks you made. It appears your the dummy as you are unable to read or comprehend the question that was put forth in the thread.

That is why I replaced my Carrier Air V with an Advent Air, I think it's Coleman also makes one.. They are "Drop on" replacements.

The job required.. REmove inner cover and 4 bolts, pull off rooftop unit and gasket, replace gasket and roof top unit and 4 new bolts.

Open control board housing, remove ONE connector (Molex socket) and pigtail, replace with a new one.

Connect "Y" connector in the adapter kit and plug rooftop unit into the "Bottom" of the Y.

    Replace inner cover.

That's all folks.. Same T-Stat (Well remote control) same controls, from the inside it is the same unit (Literally, not "Just like" but the exact same right down the the serial number) The part in the ceiling/roof that feeds the ductwork,, is also the same,, Only the part visible from roof, and that one pigtail, changed. (Oh and the bolts, they included new bolts, so we used them).

One other change, 15000 instead of 13,500, Current draw however, remained 13.5 amps.
  • Please educate this dummy as to what signifies BH.
I'm guessing the H is meant to be husband but how about the B?
    Black/blue/blonde?

    X3 on aluminum tape.
  • Shouldn't the bottom of the plenum be flush with the top of duct work? It seems that with the bottom of the plenum being within 1 inch of the bottom of the duct that air flow would be restricted.
