AC not starting correctly

If I turn on one at time no issue.

But if both are on and I plugin or start the generator, the transfer switch starts banging the jumpers like an over load.

if I shut one AC off temporally the other will run fine, then turn the second one on all is good.

It looks like the a/c start capacitor on one may be bad but can't tell which one

Suggestions?

  • Turn off A/C before you unplug from shore power
Start generator then turn A/C back on

What you are doing swapping power with A/C running
    Is recipe for trouble
A good way to fry the generator or burn out transfer switches

Pull into camp turn off a/c turn off generator

Plug in shore power, turn on a/c

Never turn off or start generator with a/c on
    Big problems for generator
  • You should *never* plug in with high-draw appliances ON. This is how pedestal sockets get pitted and burned.

Not too good for a cold generator either.
