A/C quite working

Woke up A/C had quite working. Anything that was 110v was not working in 5th wheel. No breakers were tripped. Smelled smoke, found convertor was smoking. 12v lights work. Breaker at pole was not tripped. Need suggestions on what to check next. Will try and get electrician out asap. Thanks

  • Converter is wired into the gfci the ac not coming on due to low 12volt unplug or unite converter reset gfci
  • Lost neutral . Converter should have fuses on it.Unplug from pole and check breaker panel
  • If the converter turned to toast I'd sure suspect you have a tripped breaker somewhere...possibly one you've never noticed before. Time to go hunting.. You need to unhook the converter carcass, too.
  • If anything 120v has quite, than you have more problems then 12v.
  • AC requires 12 volts and your converter provides that for charging batteries and supplying 12 volts at the same time.

IF your 12 volts has gone low it might not be enough to operate the 12 volt circuits in the air conditioners.

You need a voltmeter across the batteries to confirm of course.

Your alternator will bring things to life as long as no fuses were blown in the process of the converter letting the smoke out.
