Happened to me. another source of noise is a cracked or broken fan or blower cage.. Seen all three in my time as a Full Timer (less than 10 years) and I'm not an RV service techl... I just sometimes help my neighbors.
True story> Neighbor had a no-longer made Carrier Air V. He had the broken blower cage. It is late Friday, Nearest parts place is 30 miles and likely closed when we get there. It's Georgia, He really needs that A/C. Where's he going to find a replacement?
Turns out I had one in my basement.
