AC/Heater Problem

Terry 5th wheel, Coleman air conditioner, Atwood heater. Problem started a couple months ago, AC/fan would work off and on, then stopped all together along with the furnace. Checked all fuses/breakers all checked good. Have 120 AC at AC unit, thought it was a bad thermostat, had 12+ DC on red wire with thermostat removed, attached other wires dropped to 4.5. Replaced thermostat with a Coleman digital thermostat, same results. Ran a hot wire straight from the battery to thermostat, thermostat lights up, AC compressor will kick on, fan will run, but not at regular speed. Furnace would not kick on. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Thanks for any advise/help

  • Fixed the problem. Was a bad ground connection in the furnace. Thanks again for all the input
  • Sounds like a staple through the thermostat cable to me, but it should have separate cables for A/C and furnace.
  • Yes, new thermostat is a Coleman digital, same wiring as the original.
  • everything hooked in correctly to new thermostat? I had one the other day and the wires from a/c to thermostat where melted behind a wall. They used to small of a guage wire from factory.
