Hahaha, going home with clothes that smell like "smoked salmon" is part of the adventure, right?
Even on 20-mile dunnage mule trips we took a pair of 20 lb pots. One was for cooking and lanterns, the second was for campfire flame. Reduced wood usage around 70%. There are few things more disheartening than finding chopped, chipped, and sawn tree fall and live pines and firs. We used pine knots. On one trip we came across an aged fell with exposed roots. They make camp chairs light to move around the campfire to avoid smoke. Smart campers spot their fires downwind from their rig.
