- wa8yxmExplorer IIII feed my TS-2000 off the house main 12 volt panel less than six feet away... No problems. Does not care if running on over 500 AH of lead acid battery or 80 amps of Progressive Dynamics or both.. It just puts out 100 watts. (Peak)on most bands.. Bit less on VHF/UHF by choice (Pressed POWER and turned know anti-clockwise then pressed POWER again choice).
- BFL13Explorer IISo why not just split bank?
- NinerBikesExplorerThere's a dirty old man down in Mexico right now, choking from laughter on this thread. I can feel it, 1500 km's away.

That was on solar panels.... this is chemistry.
Why don't you think it's serious? I want power for my ham radio. I need at least 13.1V input at my Elecraft KX3 to get 12.8V under load after the safety diode, to get a full 15w output on Tx. And the "swear word edited" PWM charge controller bleeds RFI like crazy, so I have to shut the solar panel down while doing radio work.
Why won't it work? - 2oldmanExplorer II

I can't see how this is a good idea seeing how Li's charging and discharging characteristics are way different. And pairing a $1200 battery with a $150 one seems, well, weird.

I figured BFL13 would be able to provide me with a "how to" mix battery chemistries.
Not a clue about Li Ion, but seems they are fussy from reading that other thread.
When in doubt, just do split bank. Like put the inverter with its own battery and run the rest of the rig on the other battery. When I did that I had two sets of solar too, one on each battery bank.
