A critical issue is whom is going to rebuild this unit if and when the OP goes to do something about it? I do like the low ESR Panasonic capacitors. Their 30,000 hr rated lifespan at 150c sure impresses me.
Umm, no, that's a ferroresonant model, been around since the 1970s. Has a transformer, 2 rectifier diodes and a capacitor on the resonant tank winding. Weighs a lot , is noisy, doesn't actually put out dc voltage, but is near bullet proof.
