Adjusting slide out awning

I don’t know the brand name of my slide out awning is.$ I will post it when I get to the travel trailer. However, is there a common approach to adjusting the tightness of the awning itself? When it rains, I have a pool of water resting on top of my slide out due to the fact that my awning is not tight enough and sags. Regards, David
  • There's not much you can do. If it's not mounted with much of a slope then tightening wont help much. (Tightening involves removal of the awning)
I used a long piece of styrofoam type insulation that's fit to jamb between the roof and the bottom of the S/O cover. Works OK and is light to carry.
  • If you go to the manufacturer's website and download the manual for your model, it will tell you how to increase the spring tension. As mentioned, a pool noodle or beach ball will also help.
  • You do not need to adjust them. Due to lack of slope that is simply the nature of the beast. Like others have mentioned, either dont worry about it or put a blow up beach ball under it to create the necessary slope.
  • I don't have slide toppers, but I've read where people put blow-up beach balls under them to help them drain better.
  • Stick a couple of foam pool noodles under the slide topper, on top of the slide itself.
