Yes permanent. Tell me why it is a bad idea? I don't mean the driver's window. There is a tilt-openable window behind the driver, with nice thick squishy weatherstripping that I might not even have to cut a slit in. No door there.
The cable would not prevent operation of the window. I would want the cable to have a little U dip in it, so it enters the window at an upward angle rather than a downward one, so it doesn't wick rain in. This is not a requirement, as I can clean up rainwater, but would be a convenience.
Question is: How would I attach that U-loop to the side of the van so it does not flap in the breeze? Is there some sort of dries-clear adhesive sealant I could put a giant dollop of? I hope to avoid screw holes, if I can.
