Drilling a hole...hmmmm...
My van is a passenger model, so there is headliner and side panel stuff to deal with. The batteries are between the front seats, under a homemade console.
A hole would have to be within 2 inches of the window, in the pillar between window and driver or passenger door, behind the seatbelt, or at the front center of the roof with cable running down the center of the windshield. Anywhere else runs into stuff, I think.
Or I could go through the middle of the roof and run a long cable under the headliner, over to the side of the van, then back under the seats to the battery, but that's about 12' of cable loss, vs. about 6' with the more direct routes.
Are these options better than going through the window? It is a good point about rubbing on the weatherstripping.
