"24 hour usage around 1 kilowatt"
Oh! It's not steady usage, and that 1kw is all loads combined.
About 500w house usage -- mostly in evening, but freezer runs all day. It is 77w.
The other 500 is average usage for the 24v motor.
You state 3x (1500Wh in a 5 hour span) could be worst case. Is that our design goal?
I wouldn't mind having that capability, but it's not a requirement. And, as you say, may not be possible with roof real estate. I want what I can get, like so many humans :).
1500Wh/12V = 125Ah
Going solar: Watts = 130W * 125Ah/35Ah = 464W
This calculation is based on my 130W panel getting 35Ah/day.
Thanks, that is super useful! Real world data.
I doubt 460W will fit on the roof. Will 2x, or 300W fit?
Yes, I believe so.
The battery needs to be sized. Virtually all current (100A) will come from the batteries. Without knowing duty cycles, I would suggest 4 batteries.
I don't know the aH of the house battery, but it is approx 150. As I learned with the MK batteries, it is sometimes possible to call the manufacturer of an unlabeled battery and get the model based only on measurements and chemistry, so I will try that.
