New info:
I got my van back, and I measured the roof.
These numbers are approximate, as the van is curvy and tall and I am short. I will have a tall friend help me get better numbers late thursday. Meantime, these are within an inch I think.
Roof rack: 46" wide, 79" long.
Space in front of rack: 25"
Space at sides: 4" for sure, 5" might work too.
Space at rear: About a foot, but hatch opens upward and I need to check its position when it's not pouring rain out there. Say 6" at least.
Of course, if I want to have loooong panels I would need to build a front support. You guys would know better than I how far panels can hang off the front of the rack without being damaged by wind lift. 6-8"?
So it looks like I can have around 55" x 90+ of panel area, if panels exist to fit.
